    Respect Life Month

    OXNARD – The Church in the United States observes the month of October as “Respect Life Month“, with the first Sunday of the month observed as “Respect Life Sunday”. The Respect Life program of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops invites everyone to pray together for the issues on the culture of life; practices such as abortion, assisted suicide, and capital punishment violate the dignity of the human person and must be rejected. The theme for Respect Life Month 2023 is “Called to Serve Moms in Need.”

    The parish of Mary, Star of the Sea, 463 West Pleasant Valley Road, will be observing Respect Live Month with some special events, and is reaching out to all families to join their prayers for the culture of life issues with the intercession of the Blessed Mother:

    • Wednesday, 19 October 2022 at 5:15pm – Recitation of the Holy Rosary and the Litany of Life.
    • Thursday, 20 October 2022 at 5:30pm – Respect Life Mass with a Special Blessing of Expected Mothers (Bilingual).
    • Friday, 28 October 2022 at 5:30pm – Respect Life Stations of the Cross (Bilingual).

    WESTLAKE VILLAGE – On Thursday, 20 October 2022, the Book Club of the parish of Saint Jude, 32032 W. Lindero Canyon, will be having their next meeting from 7pm until 8:30pm in the St Jude Library.

    VENTURA – On Monday, 10 October 2022, the Wellness Ministry of the parish of Our Lady of the Assumption, Hurley Hall 3175 Telegraph Road, will be having a NAMI “In Our Own Voice” interactive presentation at 7pm in observance of World Mental Health Day.

    This presentation, led by adults living with mental health conditions, provides insight into what it is like to live with mental illness, and includes video and discussion. Audiences are given a safe place to ask questions and gain understanding of an often-misunderstood topic.

    OXNARD – Beginning on Thursday, 6 October 2022, the parish of Santa Clara, 323 S. E. Street, will be having a virtual Bible Study every Thursday at 7pm, beginning with the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.

    “Few writings have influenced Christian thought as much as Paul’s Letter to the Romans. Protestants love the Letter to the Romans, Catholics should love it more. Does the letter teach that we are justified by faith alone, or is it teaching we are justified by a faith that must work in love? Join us and find out”.
