Self-Directed Days of Recollection

Santa Clara in Oxnard

OXNARD – The parish of Santa Clara, 323 S. “E” Street, has announced that its new Santa Clara Retreat House will be open on Tuesdays for silent self-directed days of recollection.

“We all need quiet time to recollect and renew: to draw near to Christ and his Church in the silence of our heartsDuring most Tuesdays, confession and adoration will be available as well as time for reading and personal prayer in our beautiful and prayerful new retreat house…”

~ Fr John Love, pastor of Santa Clara

To ensure a quality experience, use of the retreat house will be limited to 10 persons in “half-day” blocks of time (4 hours). The morning block begins at 9am and concludes at 1pm. The afternoon block begins at 12pm and concludes at 4pm. The two blocks of time overlap in order to allow all retreatants to attend the 12:15 Mass.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is offered in both the morning and afternoon blocks in the chapel.

Retreatants may bring food if desired and use the kitchen refrigerator. Bags must be labeled. No cooking is allowed, but a microwave is available. Coffee and tea will be provided.

Books for reading are available in the upstairs library, but they may not be removed from the retreat house.

Reservations are required and must be made by using the parish’s Flocknote system. Specific Tuesday dates and times when the house is open will be offered for consideration. No walk-ins, please.

Each retreatant must sign in and provide an emergency contact person and phone number. There is no use fee required. But, as the retreat house seeks to be self-supporting, a free-will offering is gladly accepted to support its operations.
